mark gray - founder // producer // musician

Mark has been fascinated with recording and producing since getting his hands on a portable cassette recorder as a kid. He is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has recently played with Imogen Rae and Austin Biel, from USA.

He oversees projects, facilitates the whole creative process and makes sure everyone who uses King Sound Studio is made to feel welcome and relaxed. Mark has a vast and eclectic taste in music and knows his Elgar from his Elbow.

john kirby - engineer // producer // musician

John was named Producer of the Year after gaining his First Class degree in Music Production from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). John was drummer and vocalist in Genesis tribute band Genesish and has a post-graduate certificate in Music Production through studying at the prestigious Gus Dudgeon Studios, Cardiff. Dudgeon produced all of Elton John’s classic albums.

chris 'Q' brookbanks - engineer // producer // musician

Chris has previously designed and developed audio installations for a wide range of clients, he’s worked with artists such as Midge Ure, The Christians, and Adrian Edmondson’s band, The Bad Shepherds. He was integral in developing and maintaining the technology for the Lancaster and district area’s Diversity FM community radio, and is also in charge of Beyond Radio’s broadcast and IT technology as well as being host DJ. An accomplished musician and engineer, Chris is heavily involved in the local live music scene.

phil wood - compositions // arrangements // musician

Phil brings a wealth of talent and skill to King Sound Studio. Having played in many bands over the years Phil is now focusing his attention on arrangements and musicality. A dedicated multi-instrumentalist with a background in soul and jazz, Phil can help you develop your ideas into solid compositions. With the ability to compose from many instruments, he is an invaluable member of the team and solid session player.
